This Indenture made this 2nd day of August in the year of our lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety six Between Zachariah Harman and John Harman of the County of Chatham and State of North Carolina of the one part and Isaac Mathis of the County and State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Zachariah Harman and John Harman for and in consideration of the sum of forty eight pounds current money to them in hand paid by the said Isaac Mathis the receipt whereof the said Zachariah Harman and John Harman do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold alien enfeoff and confirmed and by these presents do grant bargain and sell alien enfeoff and confirm unto the said Isaac Mathis his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the county aforesaid on the south side of Cape Fear River it being part of a tract of land known by the name of Brasswells old place beginning at a sicamore on the bank of said river at the mouth of a gut at Brasswells ferry and runs up said River No45 W56 poles to a willer [willow] oak at his corner then S67 and West seventy six poles along his line to the gut or branch then down the merianders of said gut to the beginning containing fourteen acres and seven eights of an acre also one

other lot Beginning where said Mathis line crosses the aforementioned tract and runs South sixty seven degrees West thrity eight poles along said line to a pine then south two degrees east one hundred and fifty eight poles to a black oak grub at said Mathises corner then North fifty two and east five poles to the branch then down it as the merianders of said branch to the beginning containing thirty three acres and 50 poles being part of a tract of two hundred and fifty ^acres^ of land granted to Harry Braswell with the revision and revisions remainder and remainders and all the estate right title interest claim or demand whatsoever of them said Zachariah Harman and John Harman of in and to the hereby granted premises to have and to hold the said tract of parcel of land with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging as in any wise appertaining to the said Isaac Mathis his heirs and assigns forever and the said Zachariah Harman and John Harman do by these presents for themselves their heirs executors administrators forever warrant and defend the said tracts or lotts unto the said Isaac Mathis his heirs executors and assigns

This Indenture made this the 4th day of November in the year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Thirty five between Thomas Springfield of the County of Chatham and State of North Carolina of the one part and Joseph Avent of the County and State aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that the said Thomas Springfield for and in consideration of the sum of Seven Hundred and Fifty Dollars to him in hand paid by the said Joseph Avent the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged and himself therewith fully satisfied hath given bargained sold and conveyed and by these presents doth fully clear and absolutely give bargain sell and convey to him the said Joseph Avent his heirs and assigns forever two certain tracts of land in one being in the County and State aforesaid lying on Henry’s branch waters of Cape Fear Beginning at a dead pine Drake’s corner and running East twenty two poles to a white white oak Yarborough’s corner then south with his line seventeen poles and four links to a small pine thence West with Judd’s line ninety nine poles to a stake in the old line thence South with said line thirty seven poles to a stake thence North One Hundred and Twenty poles to a pine in Abner Hill’s line thence East two hundred and forty poles to a Red Oak on the Ferry Road thence South across ^Henry’s branch and^ the said road sixty six poles to the first station containing One Hundred and Sixty Four and a half Acres be the same more or less with all the revision and revisions, remainder and remainders To Have and To Hold the said land and premises together with all and singularly the appurtenances thereunto belonging as in any wise appertaining to the said bargained
