Be it known by these presents unto all persons whom it now or ever hereafter concern that I Luther Thomas of the County of Chatham and State of N Carolina hath for the sum of one hundred and thirty five dollars paid to me by John Womack of the County and State as above sold unto him a certain parcel of land in the above named county of Chatham on the waters of Bush Creek Beginning at a sweetgum on the Bank of the creek corner of Lot No 4 and running South crossing the creek 236 poles to a Red oak in the county line thence with said line No 85° East 109 poles to a post oak in a drain Yarbroughs corner thence north with his line 132 to a pine stump his other corner thence West his other line 41 poles to a stake thence south his other line 96 poles to the creek thence down the creek as it meanders about 16 poles to the mouth of a gulley or wash thence up the gulley to the creek thence up the creek as it meanders to the first station containing 137 Acres

now I Luther Thomas do for myself and my heirs executors administrators or assigns warrant and will forever defend the above bounded land unto the said John Womack and his heirs against the just claim or claims of any person or persons whatever in witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and affix my seal this the 3 day of January 1843

This Indenture made this twenty fourth day of October in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty one Between John Wommack of the County of Chatham in the State of North Carolina of the one part and Joseph Avent of the County and State aforesaid of the other part
Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of ninety nine and one half dollars to me the aforesaid John Wommack in hand paid the receipt and payment thereof I am therewith fully satisfied and contented Hath given Granted Bargained Sold and Conveyed one certain tract piece or parcel of land situate lying and being in the County of Chatham on the north side of Bussh Creek and bounded as follows
Beginning at a Post Oake saplin Joseph Thomases corner thence as his line east twenty four chains to a stake in said line Arch’s Yarborroughs corner thence on a small branch in a field thence as Yarborroughs line North twenty two chains and seventy six links to a stake Avents own corner thence as his line West twelve chains and seventy five links to a stake where a Red Oak [?stood his leaves?] thence as another of his lines North six chains and eighty links to overtake his own corner thence as another of his lines west eleven chains and sixty four links to a stake his

own corner thence as another of his lines South ten chains to a stake one Pine Pointers his own corner thence West twenty nine chains as his line to a stake and Pointers Ruth Thomases corner thence as her line south seventeen chains and fifty links to a stake and Pointers her corner thence East as her line twenty nine chains to a post her corner thence south as her line one chain and seventeen links to the beginning containing one hundred and nineteen and one half acres be the same more or less To have and to hold unto the aforesaid Joseph Avent his heirs and assigns forever and I the aforesaid John Wommack by these presents give grant bargain sell and convey all the above described land and premises free and clear of all lawful claim or claims of myself any heirs or any other person or persons whatever Together with all the appurtenances there unto belonging as in any wise appertaining unto the aforesaid Joseph Avent his heirs and assigns forever And I the aforesaid John Wommack do warrant and forever defend the above described land unto the aforesaid Joseph Avent his heirs and assigns forever in witness whereof I the aforesaid John Wommack do hereunto set my hand and seal the day and date first above written
