This Indenture made this 8th day of February one thousand eight hundred and forty nine betweeen Woodson Maddox of the County of Chatham and State of North Carolina of the one part and Arch’d M. Yarbrough of the county and state aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Woodson Maddox for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and twenty dollars to him in hand paid by the said Arch’d M. Yarbrough the receipt whereof is hereby fully acknowledged and himself thereof satisfyed hath given granted bargained sold and confirmed and by these presents doth give grand bargain sell and confirm to him the said Archibald M. Yarborough his heirs and assigns forever a certain track or parcel of land lying and being in the County and State aforesaid situated on the waters of Bush Creek and bounded as follows Beginning at a white oak in Yarbrough’s line and running east one hundred and fourteen poles to a stake thence south one hunded and twenty four poles to a stake thence west one hundred and fourteen poles to a sweet gum in Yarbrough’s line thence north with said line one hundred and twenty four poles to the first station containing Eighty seven and a half Acres to be the same more or less with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging as in any wise appertaining to have and to hold the aforesaid lands and premises to him the said Arch’d M. Yarbrough His heirs executors administrators and assigns forever free and discharged from all encumbrances whatsoever and the said

Woodson Maddox doth for himself his heirs executors and administrators do warrant and will forever defend the right and title of the aforesaid land and premises to him the said Arch’d M. Yarbrough his heirs and assigns forever against the claim or claims of any and of all persons whatsoever —
